I’m a third-year graduate student currently pursuing aMA in Linguistics at the Institute of Linguistics, Shanghai InternationalStudies University (SISU). I take great interest in experimental linguistics (e.g.,experimental syntax) because I believe that linguistic theories should havepsychological reality. Broadly, I’m interested in (i) language processing andits relation with Universal Grammar, namely, whether innate grammaticalconstraint (UG) or the processing account alone is necessary in explaininglinguistic phenomena, (ii) how typological similarities are shaped byproduction ease and communicative efficiency, and (iii) in what ways are L2 andL1 processing different: Is the difference quantitative or qualitative?
