讲座内容提要: The Stress Deafness test was devised by Emmanual Dupoux and colleagues to show that French listeners consistently distinguish themselves from listeners who speak a language with contrastive stress. It relies on the ability to remember a sequence of some four stimuli that differ only in stress locations (location 1 vs location 2). I will argue on the basis of results from different languages that the crucial feature needed for success in the task is a lexically marked prominence feature. A prominence feature which does not rely on lexical marking does not count. |
